Apricot Kernel Oil

INCI Name: Prunus Armeniaca

Description: Extracted from the kernel (pit) of an apricot it contains oleic fatty acid (mono-unsaturated Omega-9) and Linoleic fatty acid (unsaturated Omega-6). It has a high Vitamin A content and is readily absorbed by the skin, providing our skin with the essential elements it requires for health.

Benefits: Apricot kernel oil penetrates the skin without leaving an oily feel. Its high contents of vitamins and minerals and essential fatty acids gives the oil superior softening and moisturising properties and fights the visible signs of aging, allowing the skin to retain elasticity, clarity, and suppleness. Used to improve scalp condition, condition hair and nourish skin.

Application: In natural skin care formulations, it is a valuable face oil and it is an excellent softener for the delicate skin around the eyes, mouth and neck, due to its light texture, typically suited to dry and sensitive skin.

Argan Oil

INCI Name: Argania Spinosa kernel oil.

Description:Natural oil obtained from Argania spinosa (L.), an endemic tree of southwest Morocco, 100% pure and cold pressed. High content of unsaturated fatty acids, natural tocopherols (vitamin e). phenols, phenolic acid & carotenes. Clear yellow liquid (color can vary due to natural variation).

Properties: Valuable natural emollient with excellent nutrition benefits for skin and hair due to the high content of unsaturated fatty acids, phenols and carotens. Helps reduce the visible signs of aging and increases elasticity of the skin. Benefits of argan oil on the skin also include regeneration of skin by revitalizing the cell functions that prevent early skin aging due to sun, pollution, stress etc.

Application: Creams, serums, lotions, hair care products, sun care, lip care products.

Avocado Oil

INCI Name: Persea Gratissima (avocado) oil.

Description: Natural, 100% virgin avocado oil, cold pressed. Rich in protein, A,B,D and E vitamins and essential fatty acids, penetrates skin easily and moisturizes well. Greenish yellow oily liquid (color can vary due to natural variations).

Properties: Nourishing oil for skin and hair care, particularly high content of various vitamins, moisturizes and softens, especially suited for dry skin, dry hair and damaged hair. Good for massage and facial oils.

Application: Soaps, Creams, serums, lotions, hair care products, sun care, lip care products.

Borage Oil

INCI Name: Borago Officinalis Seed Oil.

Description: Extracted from seeds of the ancient herb borage (Borago officinalis). The oil is cold pressed to retain its natural goodness. Borage oil is one of the richest sources of gamma linolenic acid, which is important in skincare. Among the more than 40 vegetable species that contain GLA, borage seed (Borago officinalis L.) has the highest content of GLA. It contains about 60% polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) of which 23% is GLA.

Properties: The oil keeps skin supple and nourished, especially where skin is dry or ageing. It is also a soothing anti-inflammatory, great for cooling inflamed and irritated skin.

Calendula Oil

INCI Name: Calendula Officinalis Flower Oil.

Description: is extracted from the marigold flower. The name Calendula comes from the latin kalendae, which means first day of the month, probably because they blossom in the beginning of the months. It is also called pot marigold and contains nutrients like Vitamin C, E, Calcium, Coenzima Q10.

Properties: Known for its gentleness and soothing effect on the skin, it is a carefree option for sensitive skin. Calendula oil is used in skin care to treat burns, cuts, insects bites, rashes, eczema, wounds, skin inflammation with anti-fungal, anti-septic and astringent properties. It balances the skin and reduces irritation.

Carrot Seed Oil, a Moisturizing Skin-Rejuvenator

INCI Name:Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Seed Oil.

Description: Carrot seed oil is the essential oil extract from the seed of the carrot plant (Daucus carota). Also known as “Queen Anne’s Lace,” this plant is an annual or biennial herb with hairy leaves and umbrella-shaped white lacy flowers with purple centers. There are varieties of carrots which produce orange, purple, yellow, white, and red carrots.

Benefits to the Skin:

Gives the skin colour, shine & nouridhment – good for all skin types. Because carrot seed oil is high in antioxidants, it’s a natural for any anti-aging skin formula. These components can help protect your skin from environmental assaults like UV rays, pollution, and stress. Carrot seed oil may be added to sunscreen formula because it is reputed to protect from free radicals produced by UV radiation. Carotenoids, in particular, have been found to enhance the body’s immune response to UV rays, which can decrease skin damage from UV exposure.
What’s magical about carrot seed oil, however, is its ability to rejuvenate skin. Scientists think this has something to do with the “carotol,” a primary component found in carrot seed oil. The oil also has moisturizing vitamin E and protective vitamin C, which work together to help encourage healing and to rejuvenate skin cells and bring new life to skin. Carrot seed oil has a reputation for helping to heal eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis because of its ability to stimulate cell growth and repair damaged skin.
It is also this ability that makes carrot seed oil a great anti-aging ingredient, as well. Rejuvenating skin cells and encouraging new growth is at the center of combating the appearance of aging. The high carotol content has also made the oil a good option for treating wounds and skin infections. If you have dry or oily skin, you don’t have to worry—like many natural oils, carrot seed oil has the ability to balance both! Castor Oil

INCI Name: Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil.

Description: A thick natural vegetable oil derived from the seeds of the castor bean plant, consisting of triglycerides of different fatty acids (90% ricinoleic acid, 3-4% oleic acid, 3-4% linoleic acid). The oil has been used for therapeutic purposes since ancient times Clear slightly yellowish viscous liquid, mild characteristic odor. Miscible in alcohol, insoluble in water.

Properties: Multipurpose emollient (leaves the skin soft & smooth), good hair conditioner (repairs & nourishes the hair, stimulates the scalp), barrier agent, moisturizer & lubricant (gives shine to lipsticks & lip balms).

Application: Soaps, Creams, lotions, hair care products, bath oil, sun & baby care products, lip care products.

Chamomile oil

Description: Distilled from the small yellow flowers of several varieties of camomile, including German (Matricaria chamomilla) and Roman (Anthemis nobilis). German camomile contains a high percentage of azulene, a powerful healer that is extremely soothing to the skin. In aromatherapy, camomile is used to balance female energy and reproductive organs.

Properties: Serve as an emollient and softening the skin. Has anti-inflammatory effects. Chamomile is also often used to enhance the color of blonde hair. A great and powerful herb that tones, has a calming quality, improves tissue regeneration and soothes the skin. alleviating rashes, abrasions, and burns. Even more serious skin conditions as eczema. It has anti-bacterial properties which may help faciliate healing of various infections.

Applications: Soaps, Creams, Lotions, Hair, Topical chamomile ointments. combined with other herbs such as lavender to create aromatic bathing experiences.

Cocoa Butter

INCI Name: Theobroma cacao (Cocoa butter).

Description: Natural fat from the seeds of the fruit of the Cacao tree (grows in tropical regions), rich in oleic, stearic & palmitic fatty acids, contains also flavors (e.g. vanillic acid), sterols, tannins & pigments. Soft, yellow semi-solid fat, pleasant cacao odor. Soluble in warm alcohol or oils, insoluble in water.

Properties: High-quality skin softener, emollient & conditioner, film forming agent, non-gelling thickener, moisturizer, anti-wrinkles effects, restores skin flexibility, emulsion stabilizer.

Application: Soaps, Creams, lotions, pomades, balms, protective creams, ointments, makeup products, conditioners.

Coconut Oil

INCI Name: Cocos nucifera (coconut) oil.

Description: Natural whole coconut oil not fractionated, obtained by expression from the kernels of the seeds of cocos nucifera. Contains lauric acid,  myristic acid, caprylic / capric acid, and other valuable fatty acids. Insoluble in water, soluble in oils. Off-white to yellow oily solid or liquid.

Properties: Precious emollient leaving the skin and hair soft, smooth & conditioned. Lubricant for massage oils.

Application: Soaps, Creams, lotions, soaps, shampoos, protecting creams, ointments, bath oils, makeup & sun care products, personal & baby care products.

Evening Primrose Oil

INCI Name: Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil.

Description: The oil derived from evening primrose seeds.Evening primrose oil is rich in ingredients essential for cell structure and rejuvenating process of skin. Evening Primrose Oil is rich in essential fatty acids. The primary fatty acids are gamma-linolenic acid (GLA: C18:3n-6) and linoleic acid (linoleic acid C18:2n-6). The GLA content of Evening Primrose Oil is in the range of 8%-10%. The level of linoleic acid is one of the highest found in all oils. Yellowish, gel-like clear liquid.

Properties:Nourishing hair and skin. It can prevent anti-aging problems such as sagging skin, dry and rough skin and so gradually reduces wrinkles and fine lines. Evening primrose oil promotes good coloration for your skin and lightening the dark circles around the eyes.

Grape Seed Oil

INCI Name: Vitis vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil.

Description: Natural oil pressed from the seeds of grapes (cold pressed), contains 60-76% linoleic acid, 12 – 25% oleic acid, 6-9% palmitic acid and 3-6% stearic acid, rich in various vitamins including vitamin A, D and E. Pale yellow to greenish liquid, faint odor. Soluble in alcohol, water-insoluble. Light in feel and is easily absorbed by the skin.

Properties: Effective, non-greasy emollient with good skin absorption (leaves the skin soft & smooth), mild astringent effect (tightens & tones the skin), useful for acne, oily & impure skin.
Grapeseed oil contains proanthocyanidins, which are very potent antioxidants that are helpful for diminishing the sun’s damaging effects and lessening free radical damage. The antioxidant effect of this oil is most useful when fighting the ravages of aging because stress caused by free radicals, which are neutralized by antioxidants, is one of the major factors that cause aging.

Application: Soaps, Creams, lotions, anti-acne creams, skin toners, bath & massage oils, anti-aging products, hair care products, makeup products. Carrier oil in aromatherapy products and as a base for moisturizers. Good for massage and facial oils.

Jojoba oil
INCI Name: Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil.

Description: is the liquid produced in the seed of the Jojoba plant, a shrub, which is native to southern Arizona, southern California, and northwestern Mexico. In reality Jojoba oil is not an oil but a liquid wax. Jojoba oil is strikingly similar to human sebum and is able to effectively penetrate the skin to improve flexibility and elasticity. it suits all types of skin even sensitive type.

Properties: It is a natural gentle, effective emollient, lubricants, and cleansers. It is cellular renewal ingredient as well as an excellent moisturizer. Is an antioxidant and is good for treating acne and dry skin, as well as eczema and psoriasis. Good for dry, damaged lips. Soothes and helps to remove wrinkles and stretch marks.

Application: Soaps, Creams, Lotions, Moisturizers, Hair shampoo and conditioners, personal care. The pure oil itself may be used on skin, hair, or cuticles.

Neem Oil

INCI Name: (Azadirachta indica).

Description: The oil is extracted from the seeds of the neem tree usually through cold pressing (which ensures that most of the beneficial properties of the oil are retained).

Properties: Neem oil has anti-septic, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-viral and is highly effective against ringworm, eczema and scabies. Neem Oil is also used in insect repellents. In pure form, neem oil is extremely potent being used in organic pesticides and has been shown to be effective as a contraceptive. Helps itchy, dry and chapped skin problems.

In soap making, neem oil is usually incorporated as a minority oil (around 5%) to make fantastic anti-nit and anti-flea shampoo bars.

Note: Neem oil in soap is safe for use by pregnant women or women wishing to conceive, but, as ever, always seek advice if you are unsure on whether soap containing neem oil is right for you.

Olive oil

INCI Name: Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil.

Description: Olive is an evergreen tree that mainly grows in the Mediterranean region. Natural Pure olive oil characterized by a high level of oleic acid, is a popular oil derived from the fruit of the olive tree. See our olive oil page in this website.

Properties: Emollient, lubricant and cleansers. Prevents loss of natural moisture, softens skin and attracts external moisture to the skin. Repair skin damage caused by weather, sun and air pollution. Excellent anti oxidant that make skim firm and smooth while it reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Treats rheumatism, muscle pains and inflamed skin.

Application: Soaps, Creams, Lotions, Shampoo, Baby care products and variety of ways in skin care.

Palm Oil

INCI Name: Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Oil.

Description: is an edible vegetable oil derived from the mesocarp (reddish pulp) of the fruit of the oil palms. Palm oil is naturally reddish in color because of a high beta-carotene content. palm oil is one of the few highly saturated vegetable fats. It is semi-solid at room temperature and contains several saturated and unsaturated fats in the forms of glyceryl laurate (0.1%, saturated), myristate (1%, saturated), palmitate (44%, saturated), stearate (5%, saturated), oleate (39%, monounsaturated), linoleate (10%, polyunsaturated), and alpha-linolenate (0.3%, polyunsaturated).

Properties: Palm oil is used in most cosmetics as a binding agent and in soap for its hardness and high cleaning effect.

Applications: Soaps, shampoo, cosmetic formulations, candles.

Palm Butter

INCI Name: Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) butter.

Description: Certified organic, naturally occurring butter stearine fraction of palm fat, solid butter. Has antioxidant properties and contains a high level of tocopherol and tocotrienol for strong antioxidant stability. Light yellow solid fat, characteristic odor. Soluble in oils, insoluble in water, refined.

Properties: Free radical scavenging (=antioxidant) activity. Greatly moisturizing, nourishing and cell regenerating properties.

Application: Lotions, creams, sun care & after sun products, hair care, ointments.

Peach Kernel Oil

INCI Name: Prunus Persica (Peach) Kernel Oil.

Description: A fine oil easily absorbed by the skin and obtained from the kernel of the peach fruit. This oil contains vitamin E and vitamin A and is also high in essential polyunsaturated fatty acids.

Properties: A nourishing and moisturizing oil for all skin types. Possessing wonderful revitalising, nourishing, regenerative and moisturising properties. Peach kernel oil helps prevent dehydration, smoothes wrinkles and encourages elasticity and suppleness in all skin types. Its regenerative and tonic effects help to cleanse and tighten the pores of the skin.

Application: Lip Balms, Creams, Lotions.

Pomegranate Oil

INCI Name: Punica Granatum.

Description: Pomegranate is one of the oldest cultivated fruits. Cold pressed from seeds of pomegranate fruit. Deeply nourishing to the outer epidermal layer, luxurious, naturally high in flavonoids and punicic acid (a conjugated linolenic acid). Pomegranate is rich in anthocyanins, a group of polyphenols known for their powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.  Pomegranate anthocyanins were shown in a comparative analysis to possess higher antioxidant activity than vitamin E ({alpha}-tocopherol), ascorbic acid, and ß-carotene. Exciting research has shown that topical treatment with pomegranate polyphenols may prevent the molecular signs of UV photo-damage, connected to skin cancer.

Properties: Has anti-oxidant properties that fight free radicals and skin aging.  It has been used in cosmetics to heal, protect, moisturize dry skin, restore suppleness to the skin and bring the elasticity back.

Rosehip Oil

INCI Name: Rosa Mosqueta (Rosehip) Fruit Oil.

Description: Natural oil extracted from the seeds of the rosehip. High in linoleic & linolenic essential fatty acids which are key components of epidermal skin cells. Cold-pressed, refined. Clear yellowish liquid. Hardly soluble in alcohol.

Properties: Excellent emollient and moisturizer, leaves the skin soft, smooth and hydrated. Has been shown to improve the appearance of aging skin. Ideal for distressed and/or sensitive skin. Linoleic acid or Omega 6 oil, Oleic acid or Omega 9 fatty acid, Lycopene, Beta-carotene, pro-vitamin A and Vitamin C all of these and more have remarkable skin rejuvenating properties which are very effective against skin pigmentation and aging wrinkles especially formed from sun damage.

Sea Buckthorn Oil

INCI Name: Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Oil.

Description: Sea Buckthorn (Hippophae L.) are deciduous shrubs in the genus Hippophae, family Elaeagnaceae. Sea buckthorn (or Seaberry) bushes yield orange berries which are high in Vitamin C, lending a vibrant orange hue to the berries. Sea buckthorn berries also contain vitamins A and E, as well as amino acids and antioxidants. Sea buckthorn berries are pressed, the cream and fats being used for cosmetic purposes.

Properties: Cosmetic uses of Sea buckthorn are healing and restorative, as well as anti-bacterial, making it a popular choice for a natural preservative. Mainly, Sea buckthorn is used as a moisturizing ingredient and also an anti-aging ingredient due to its high levels of antioxidants. The berries also carry a slight orange scent. Sea buckthorn is very beneficial for dry and severely dehydrated skin, reliving dry patches and reducing scars and stretch marks. Protects the skin against the influences of sun, dry air and wind. The oil aids regeneration of the skin – a property that combats the process of skin ageing.

Sesame Oil

INCI Name: Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil

Description: Sesame is an old cultivated plant which is grown particularly in the tropical zones of East Africa and Asia. It is an erect annual that can grow to a height of up to 1.20 metres and is similar in appearance to our foxglove. It needs a lot of warmth. This rich emollient is high in linoleic and oleic fatty acids. Sesame oil is the classic oil used for Ayurveda treatments. The same substances which make it such a stable oil can also protect our skin against premature ageing. Often used as a carrying agent for other ingredients in cosmetic formulations.

Properties: This oil serves as an emulsifier, skin conditioner and skin soother.

Applications: Massage especially for foot, hair and scalp, Creams.

Shea Butter

INCI Name: Butyrospermum parkii.

Description: Natural plant fat obtained from the nuts of the African Karite tree. It contains allantoin, vitamin A & E, and many cinnamic & unsaponifiable lipids (e.g. stearic & oleic acids) for a potent moisturizing effect. Off-white solid fat, no or faint odor. Soluble in alcohol or oils, insoluble in water.

Properties: Potent moisturizer & emollient, provides ultimum skin care protection. Has been postulated to protect also in part from UV rays. Has been shown to have anti-irritant & soothing properties and improves the appearance of aging skin. Natural sunblock

Application: Soaps, Lotions, creams, sun care & after sun products, facial moisturizers, body butter, ointments.

Soybean Oil

INCI Name:Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil.

Description: Soybean oil is a vegetable oil which is extracted from whole soybeans. Soybeans are a species of legume and contain significant amounts of amino acids, and omega-6 fatty acids. Soybean oil is obtained from Glycine Soja plant; this ingredient primarily consists of triglycerides of oleic, linoleic, linolenic and saturated acid.

Properties: Soybean oil is used in cosmetics as an emollient (to soften and smooth) and emulsifier (to keep a product from separating). Soy also contains natural antioxidants. For Hair, Soybean oil is a natural emollient that provides a soft, shimmery feel to the hair. It cleanses, stimulates, soothes and nourishes the hair while leaving it silky and manageable.

Application: Facial moisturizers, treatments, anti-aging skincare, eye creams, body care, hair care.

Note: People who have allergy from using Soybean products must ask their doctors before using any product contain soybean oil.

Sunflower Oil

INCI Name: Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil.

Description:The oil made from pressed sunflower seeds. Rich in fatty acids including oleic acids and contains a high content of Vitamins A, D and E which prevent free radicals from damaging your skin and creating wrinkles and the appearance of premature aging. The oil also contains lecithin.

Properties: Nourishing, conditioning and antioxidant oil for skin and hair. Sunflower Oil retains moisture, and preventing the skin from drying out, it helps to keep wrinkles at bay and the skin looking youthful and vibrantly healthy. Sunflower oil helps strengthen skin and hair’s natural moisture barrier and reduce inflammation. It is typically used in products designed to treat dry, damaged, or mature skin and hair as an emollient.

Applications: Skincare, hair care, anti-aging skincare, lip balm.

Sweet Almond Oil

INCI Name: Prunus amygdalus dulcis.

Description: A nut oil high in fatty acids. Natural oil pressed from the seeds of the sweet almond tree, contains 62-86% oleic acid, 20-30% linoleic acid & other valuable fatty acids, rich in beta-sitosterol, squalene & vitamin E. Insoluble in water, hardly soluble in alcohol. Pale yellow liquid, nutty odor. Found to be very similar to the oil found in a baby’s skin, this oil has a multitude of uses to keep you looking youthful and healthy.

Properties: Excellent emollient (leaves the skin soft, smooth & conditioned), good nourishing & revitalizing effect (penetrates well the skin), moisturizer & lubricant, heals injured & chapped skin. Absorbs easily.

Tea Tree Oil

INCI Name: Melaleuca alternifolia.

Description: Also known as melaleuca oil, tea tree oil is an essential oil derived from a plant native to Australia. Tea Tree Oil is a natural product which has been used in Australia as a traditional medicine for thousands of years.

Properties: Has antibacterial, antiseptic and antifungal properties. Effective in vitro against multiple dermatophytes found on the skin. This means that when applied topically, tea tree oil cleans the skin.

Application: Soaps, Creams, Lotions, therapeutic masks and moisturizers, as an ingredient in topical products which treat wounds, bacterial infections, fungal infections, insect bites, abrasions and hot spots.Excellent in treating acne, getting rid of toenail fungus, and for general use in hygiene products; it’s also commonly found in shampoo, conditioner, and salves.

Wheat Germ Oil

INCI Name: Triticum vulgare (wheat) germ oil.

Description: Wheat germ oil is extracted from the germ of the wheat kernel. Wheat germ oil is known to be rich in natural vitamins and essential fatty acids. It’s full of B vitamins, calcium, fiber, protein and vitamin E. Wheat germ oil is relatively sensitive to rancidity when exposed to extreme temperatures and oxygen and should therefore be used together with an antioxidant.

Properties: Powerful antioxidant that protects skin cells from ultra-violet light and environmental stress. Great for nourishing and rejuvenating dry, mature, dehydrated skin, and reducing scars, stretch marks, sunburns, and damaged skin. It has anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant effects, which may be beneficial medicinally as well as in cosmetics.
